Ive used so many ear training apps over the 10 years of my musical journey, and this is by far the most interesting, and fun experience ever!! The fact that you figure out REAL MELODIES and a ton of amazing and useful musical concepts on a guitars fingerboard transforms what was previously thought of as ear training, into something thats actually applicable right off the bat. Thank you devs! I am looking forward to the apps expansion, and could only hope that one day you can create a community on that platform so we can make our own challenges with your ui. But even if you dont, this reigns supreme!

I’m a classically trained piano teacher, I love using this app to improve my own ear and I plan to recommend it to students. I especially appreciate the algorithm which picks up on your weaker points, and gives you opportunities for dialed-in practice where it can tell you’re struggling with a specific concept. Would give five stars if not for an error in how the app handles melodic minor scales. It plays the descending scale identically to the ascending and it expects you to do the same. ...The correct way to play a descending melodic minor scale is to flatten the 6th and 7th so you’re just playing a natural minor, but the app will ding your score if you actually play it properly - it wants to train you to play the sharp 6 and 7 on the way down as well as up, which is incorrect! Devs, please let me know if you see this and fix the issue in your otherwise incredible/fun/useful app, and I will add the 5th star posthaste :)

The app does a good job presenting standard ear training like intervals, chords, etc. But what I really like most is that this is one of the only apps I know of that has so many melodic exercises using actual examples from songs and pieces, not just randomly generated patterns from various scales. This really helps the ear learn sounds and patterns in typical contexts and has helped me a lot with my transcribing even unrelated tunes. I particularly like all of the Bach and the Charlie Parker tunes. Something like this would be a great way to learn jazz (esp. bebop) licks and internalize bebop language. I hope more of these can continue to be added.
