The app was super helpful when setting up new bulbs, and really helped me understand how I needed to configure my WiFi to pair with the lights. Once I got that right, the set up in the app was streamlined and easy. The set up directions were very clear, so make sure to follow them!! While I’m not currently using the “Automation” feature, I’m excited to try it out once school starts and I have a consistent schedule!

The Cree Max bulbs are great. Good color, inexpensive. The app is clearly an afterthought. I don’t think the developers have ever actually used it. 1) Can’t edit routines (e.g. sun track) without the bulbs responding. This means the lights are going crazy if you’re editing at night. 2) The lights change if you go through different menus (e.g. dimmer -> routines -> scenes). Annoying. Somewhat related to #1. 3) Each time you click on dimmer menu, it switches over to color mode. Even if your bulbs are in white mode. If the mode must change when clicking through the menu, the new menu should assume the bulb’s current state. 4) Grouped bulbs should have an option to stagger the color changes. For example, fireplace mode would be more effective if bulbs rotated through the colors independently. This doesn’t apply to all scenes, but having the option would be nice. 5) The ‘sun track’ mode should run even in the background even if the bulbs are off. If I turn off bright white at noon, they sh...

Had 8 light for master bedroom. First challenge was getting them all to be discoverable. Kept turning on and off over and over. Sometimes find 5 lights, sometimes 6 and after 10 tries got all 8 found. Second challenge was having to sync each light individually. Would sync one then still show 8 on the list would just go down the list I didn’t know which light was synced. After an hour of trying to get them all synced finally had 6 done. Last two were not not discoverable. So as per their instructions turn lights on and off to make the lights discoverable. Oh that unpairs the first six lights so back to square 1. After over an hour and a half of no progress boxed them up and returned them all. Using my wiz lights now. Simple group pairing and doesn’t unsync is trying to get 1 to work.

Bought two bulbs over the summer, they connected within a few seconds during setup, and the app worked great. However, since the new apple iOS and Cree App update, my bulbs disconnected and won’t reconnect. I tried replacing them in case my originals just went faulty, but new ones won’t connect either. The bulbs just stay white, pulse for pairing mode, then immediately stop pulsing once I start pairing so the app can’t connect to them. It’s been like this for nearly a month, so you’d think they’d have it fixed by now. Might just switch over to GE or Philips Hue. They’re a bit pricier, but I figure they’d at least have faster responses to bug issues like this given their bigger brand names.

After about 30 minutes of trying to pair my “ Bluetooth” lights I searched on the web to see if anyone was having the same problem. I can’t connect my “Bluetooth” lights with out using WiFi and I see many others have ran into the same problem. I took a good look at the box and seen a small plus sign that you don’t really see or think about on the shelf. Deceitful way of saying “Well you need Bluetooth and WiFi not Bluetooth OR WiFi ” Great way to get it off the shelf but as I read from others it’s also a great way to get them returned. Next time think for the the long haul. You can’t grow your customer base if you can’t keep them to begin with.
