When paired with a compatible Garmin Varia device¹, the Varia app has the tools you need to ride with confidence. Using the Varia app, you can:

- Be alerted right on your phone when approaching vehicles are within 140 meters behind your bicycle.
- View color-coded alerts based on surrounding traffic: Green means you’re all clear, yellow means a vehicle is approaching, and red means a vehicle is coming at you quickly and you should take caution.
- Receive tone and vibration alerts for approaching vehicles even when you’re not looking at your phone.

With a compatible Garmin Varia Rearview Radar Camera, you can also:

- Set the camera in the best position for capturing videos and photos.
- Record videos or take photos while riding with a simple button press on your phone.
- Automatically record videos of incidents and save the video footage with the Incident Recording feature.
- Overlay speed, time, date and GPS details on photos and videos.
- Save, delete or download videos and photos to your phone.

Easy to Use
Pairing your Garmin Varia device with the app is quick and easy. Once you set it up, the Varia app will automatically recognize your device.

    Safety critical app! But...it would be perfect if the app came up as soon as you turn on the device. More than once I have left home with Garmin connect and both devices on and forgot to bring up the Varia app. Cyclists already have so many things to ensure are ready before heading out the door. It would be one less thing to think about.

    When it works, it's great. But, it loses the connection far too often. On 7 Aug 2022 it cut out in the middle of a ride and never came back. Spent two days messing around trying to fix it. After multiple re-installs of the app, it now works on my Galaxy S21, but not my Galaxy S7. Am trying RidewithGPS.

    It's ok if you only want to pair one device, however i have 2 Varia rtl 515 that i interchange on my bike both pair fine with my Wahoo bolt, however i can only have one paired with the app, if i want to change which one i am using with the app, i have to unpair the paired device then pair the device i want to use

    It excellent when it works, but too often loses connection to the device - especially after recent updates. FWIW, for now the RideWithGPS app is very noticeably more reliable was far as maintaining the connection goes.
